Not a chance it could fail<\/p>\n

I wriggle my fingers and pause to inhale<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

I fling the door open \u2013<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no time to waste!<\/p>\n

I scoop and collect with extravagant haste<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

\n<\/p>


<\/p>

The nooks have been scoured<\/p>\n

The crannies are scanned \u2013<\/p>\n

The warm drum (now empty)\u2019s been scraped out by hand<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

\n<\/p>


<\/p>

No way this machine<\/p>\n

Has outsmarted my <\/i>whit<\/p>\n

No way this big black hole has my <\/i>clothes in it<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

\n<\/p>


<\/p>

I dispatch the hangers<\/p>\n

Swing open the drawers<\/p>\n

Reload them, restock them to just like before<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

\n<\/p>


<\/p>

One at a time \u2013<\/p>\n

And yet sometimes in pairs \u2013<\/p>\n

Everything\u2019s orderly, counted with care<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

\n<\/p>


<\/p>

But just when the smile of<\/p>\n

Great victory<\/p>\n

Starts etching and sketching its way on to me<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

\n<\/p>


<\/p>

I feel, underfoot,<\/p>\n

Something fluffy and thin<\/p>\n

And I know in an instant: the dryer DID win \u2013<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

\n<\/p>


<\/p>

A SOCK!!!<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

\n<\/p>


<\/p>

It mocks me and lays there<\/p>\n

All desperate and lonely<\/p>\n

I hunt for its match but see that one and only<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

\n<\/p>


<\/p>

So how<\/em> did the dryer<\/p>\n

Outfox me once more?!<\/p>\n

How, since I prepped for this, practiced galore?!<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>


<\/p>

My confidence, assurance<\/p>\n

All now dissolved<\/p>\n

The mystery of lost socks will never be solved!<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>


<\/p>

But who will emboldened be<\/p>\n

By this and show \u2013<\/p>\n

Please show the whole world \u2026 where DO they all go?!?!<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>
