Here’s a story about a lad<\/p>\n

Whose destiny was ironclad<\/p>\n

Who’d lived a life that’s mostly sad<\/p>\n

And craved a peace he hadn’t had<\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

The day our hero did debut –<\/p>\n

(Despite the fact that he was new<\/p>\n

And all of life he should pursue<\/p>\n

The joys and dreams a boy was due) –<\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

That day he came his fate was sealed<\/p>\n

When Mom and Dad at first revealed<\/p>\n

The name they chose.  They would not yield<\/p>\n

(Despite that fact that friends appealed)<\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

Our little friend was often told<\/p>\n

His name conclusively foretold<\/p>\n

A jump in years one hundredfold
<\/p>\n

(Despite his age, at five years old)<\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

But young Jerry Attrick, you see<\/p>\n

Was not the first to have to plea<\/p>\n

His name from his great ancestry<\/p>\n

His unexpected family tree<\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

No – Mom and Dad had once before<\/p>\n

Assigned a name they quite adore<\/p>\n

(Despite their friends, who did implore<\/p>\n

They cease the prank forevermore)<\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

A golden chance!  It was their claim<\/p>\n

So they persisted in their game<\/p>\n

Their oldest boy, they did proclaim,<\/p>\n

Was Petey Attrick all the same<\/p>\n
